A very simple recipe, delicious with seasonal fruits that will satisfy both young and old!

I believe you may have seen throughout my articles that I try to pay real attention to local and quality products. But in truth, I struggle a bit with using fruits in my desserts, especially in winter. So when Charlotte contacted me to present her interactive infographic on seasonal fruits and vegetables, I saw it as a sign that I needed to get more serious about it. By calendar coincidence, I returned from Normandy with a large bag of apples from my parents' garden and today's recipe was all found: baked apples.

I would be quite unable to tell you what variety of apples I used since they come from my parents' garden. I picked them straight from the tree and how much I miss working with products that haven't traveled 300 km or more to reach me.

The apple (especially those from our garden) is one of my favorite fruits. When I was in high school, I would systematically make a detour through the vegetable garden to have a taste. It was my little late afternoon pleasure. You couldn't get fresher than that and I admit that once or twice I almost ate a little bug (in truth I think the other times I probably didn't notice ^^).

So certainly, baked apples aren't a super aesthetic dessert but it's a simple, quick dessert and so delicious that I find we quickly get used to its rustic side. I still tried to make it a bit more graphic by adding hazelnut flakes and it was just incredible! To add a little exotic touch, I drizzled it with lacuite syrup, a little memory from Reunion. But at home you can use honey or maple syrup.

So you see, there's not always a need to overcomplicate things or make super high-calorie desserts to treat yourself in the kitchen!
